Cover Letter for Portfolio/Binder |
Word process a cover letter stating why
you deserve an A on your portfolio.
You should look back and reflect as to how your writing has improved. Reread the first in-class writing that we did the first week of class. Did it contain unified paragraphs, a clear intro, and clear conclusion which was a reflection of the entire paper? In September, was it second nature for you to think in terms of a polished 5-paragraph essay (thesis, topics, parallel structure, transitions, body & conclusion)? As you speak of your writing skills, feel free to use terms we have discussed in class: focused thesis, topics, essay map, transitions, paragraph unity, polished vs. conversational tone. You may also want to mention paragraph unity, interesting introduction, fitting conclusion, eye-catching title. You may want to cite specific lines from your essays to support what you say. For fun, you may even want to experiment with simile or metaphor. You could begin the evaluation of your essays with the prompt "Writing is like . . ." or "Writing is . . ."
