A Good Police Officer

A police officer is a significant and important member of society.  A police officer has to always be ready to perform a variety of tasks.  With the possession of three respectable qualities, a police officer can be successful. An officer of the law has to be brave, has to have leadership ability, and has to take pride in his work.

Bravery is one of the most important parts of being a police officer.  If an officer is not brave while on duty, he will not succeed.  An officer must always be ready to put others' safety before his own.  Also, a policeman must be ready to deal with any situation or tragedy thrown at him.  Lastly, an officer of the law  must be able to stand in the face of danger without showing fear.  An officer is expected to be courageous, and if an aspiring officer can not fulfill this requirement, then perhaps he should reconsider his career choice.  A big part of being courageous is being a leader.

Leadership is an important attribute of a police officer.  An officer of the law must be ready to give orders to members of the community.  Not only does leadership mean giving orders to people, but also to make vital decisions in a mere instant.  Along with giving orders and making vital decisions, a police officer must take control of the situation at hand.  Even though the situations may vary, a police officer must have the leadership ability to take charge of any situation.  Lucky to have such a respective leadership role in the community, an officer must take pride in his work.

A big part of taking pride in one's work is the ability to look at yourself in the mirror and like what one sees.   Even though being a police officer is not the most popular job, especially among teenagers, he never lets critics put him down.   A police officer must be the best he can be.  By striving for perfection one is giving one hundred percent into his job, and trying to be the best that he can be.  By giving one hundred percent a police officer is putting more than pride in ones' work, an officer is putting his heart into his work.

With the above thoughts in mind, a police officer is striving to be the absolute best protector of his community.  If an officer of the law has bravery, has leadership ability, and has pride in what one does, he is on his way to success.  There are many more factors involved in being a successful police officer than bravery, leadership, and pride, but these are at the heart of success.  An officer is not born with these attributes.   They are goals that he must strive to attain.
