Note: There are numerous service learning opportunities; however, you must make sure that you paper touches upon the ethics (ethical conflicts within an organization; ethical issues they face; how ethical issues are resolved; are there more than two sides of the coin...).

ArtWorks To Empower is a nonprofit organization in Norwich that is seeking students to work in areas of marketing, gallery assistance, art therapy, counseling, and more.  The contact persons are Gail T. Lori Rygielski, Director of Volunteer Services at United Community and Family Services in Norwich, wishes to establish a partnership with TRCC.  Lori works to match students’ abilities and interests to the organization's needs.    Her telephone number is 860 – 889 – 2375  ext 387.

 

Deb Kievits, Greater Norwich Community Leadership Team, mentioned that a program entitled SPROUTS is in need of immediate assistance.   The organization needs Spanish translators,  Big Brother, Big Sisters, Tutors, and Mentors. 

 

Thames River Academy (formerly Norwich High School) needs mentors and tutors to work with high school students.  TRCC faculty and students may contact Edward Derr, Principal, at 860 – 823 - 4256.

 

Norwich Public Schools needs students to work with kindergarten through grade 12 students.  Help is needed in The Homework Club which meets after school and other programs.    The contact person is Christine Morello; she can be reached at 860 – 823 - 6284 ext 112.
