Memories On Course 2006 The secret of
a person's success is discovered in his daily agenda |
|
Three Rivers adjunct instructor Louise N. Walkup delivered a presentation at the 2006 On Course National Conference in St. Louis, Missouri. The conference, centrally located in the country, was held during the March spring break to attract hundreds of instructors and administrative staff from throughout the country. The purpose of the conference, as described in the promotional brochure was to “exchange and celebrate best practices in student success…from immediately usable instructional and counseling strategies to campus-wide programs that increase retention and student academic success.” Louise Walkup’s presentation, entitled “Memorable Beginnings and Endings” focused on creating effective first-week activities that set the tone for learning and creating engaging last-week activities to reinforce concepts that have been covered while creating a sense of completion. The presentation received stellar reviews. On Course promotes innovative professional development events. Its mission is to empower students to become active, responsible learners via an immersion in learner-centered strategies.
