Successful
Student
A successful student is studious, self-motivated and a
good time manager. Each shows the other that without the other
it would not be a success. Through these traits every student can achieve
success in school. Through school they will succeed in life. Many valuable
lessons are learned in college and these lessons prepare us for life
challenges. They allow us to be involved and productive in our society.
A studious student always take notes in class
and in the event they are unable to attend, they have a network of
contacts to get notes and if necessary schedule an appointment with the
teacher to discuss class missed. They are always asking questions and
contributing to the discussions in class positively. As an example to the
other students, they have an above average grade in the class and are
great candidates for tutors. Many plan study groups before exams to
further their grasp of concepts by helping others. This method of study
allows for some teaching of a subject, which enhances their ability of
learning.
A studious student cannot be effective without being self-motivated.
There is a lot of pressure in school, whether it is academic or social,
self-motivation helps keep students on a path of time management that will
keep them on a schedule. This schedule puts priorities on their tasks,
letting procrastination be something for the other guy to worry about.
There are always choices to be made and time to do these things. Wisely,
you should know your limits and trying to do everything might leave you
dissatisfied with what you accomplish.
Both studious and self-motivated students need to use time
management skills in order to accomplish their goals. These
goals will help to keep focused when there’s a need to be flexible. By
recognizing priorities you will eliminate procrastination. In life you
will encounter many obstacles that require you to reevaluate your
priorities and goals. To stay focussed is very hard because many people
find a certain comfort in their own existence and resist change, despite
the change is for the better. The effort in hindsight is so insignificant
compared to the reward, if people hadn’t stopped learning and growing.
Learning is life long but it shouldn’t revolve around how to set the
time on the newest VCR.
Successful students exhibit many qualities that are looked for by
companies, societies, organizations, and friendships. The qualities show
that they are responsible, organized, flexible, great time managers, and
have common sense. Together these qualities make up what we all try to
live up to as a standard for conducting ourselves. Our lives after college
will need these skills to balance all of life’s challenges. Whether it
is our families, careers, church, or other organization, we need to
develop this skill of balance in order to devote the appropriate effort
and it all starts by being a successful student.
