       Pre-reading

 1. When given a reading assignment for school, do you mentally plan when you will create time to complete the assignment?

       2. Do you select a reading location that is appropriate for you, 
one that cries out, "This is a studying/working location"?
       3. Do you take preventive measures to minimize distractions?
       4. Have you planned your time, knowing how long you will read before taking a break and before completing your reading?.
      5. Have you set out a reward for yourself once you complete the assignment? (tea, a snack, a walk, television, meal...)
     

When Reading

6. Do you survey the material to have an idea what the main idea of the assignment is?

      7. Do you transform headings into questions and actively seek an answer?
      8. Do you highlight or write notes in the margin to emphasize important points or to record inspirations and/or questions that come to mind while reading
     

Post-Reading

9.  Do you review the material  in a way that is significant to you to reinforce the material and see the interrelationship of interconnectedness of sections of the chapter?

      10.Do you create study helps, like index cards to memorize, summaries, outlines, datelines, test questions on cards with answers on the back, record information on a tape recorder to listen to while driving or working... )

Scoring:
Give yourself 10 points for each always, 5 points for every sometimes, and 0 points for each never.
