the student will have achieved the following skills:
- Locate computer labs on campus and successfully log
on.
- Utilize and navigate the Three Rivers Community College web page
to obtain general public information regarding the college
- Utilize and navigate the Three Rivers Community College web page
to obtain secured information: financial info,
grades,schedule, transcript, ...
- Know how to find specific distance learning courses:
- Ability to find courses by discipline at CTDLC
- Ability to locate courses by semester at CTDLC
- Ability to locate courses by college
- Ability to discuss the advantages and disadvantages
of distance learning
- Student will be able to navigate and interact with WebCT
- Ability to successfully log on to WebCT
- Familiarity with icons on Web CT
- Ability to respond to the instructor's discussion topic
- Ability to respond to student's posts
- Ability to email instructor via Web CT
- Ability to email classmates via Web CT
- Ability to find and read posts on WebCT calendar
- Ability to take online tests
- Student will successfully take online tests and email results to
instructor
- Acquire a basic PowerPoint proficiency:
- Ability to locate PowerPoint program on the computer
- Ability to create a four-page presentation
- Ability to find and incorporate animation from the web
- Familiarity with themes, backgrounds, and slide transitions
- Critical thinking to creatively incorporate material in an
interesting presentation
- Confidence and ability to stand in front of a group and
present a PowerPoint
- Locate and work with web libraries:
- Connecticut Digital library
- Internet Public Library
- Locate magazines on the web.
- Locate newspapers on the web.
- Acquire an understanding of the hierarchy of credible web sources
- Work cooperatively with others to master basic
computer skills.
- Acquire basic computer terminology.
- Design creative handouts utilizing basic computer
skills (Microsoft Word).
- Increase confidence in one's technological ability in a
stress-free environment that promotes a positive attitude and
effective communication.
