| Enhancing the Classroom
Atmosphere & Improving Student Writing via Web CT and Quotations
Louise N. Walkup, Adjunct Faculty, Humanities I set the tone for the class by playing PowerPoint quotations – from the text, class notes, and luminaries spanning all ages. I've also had my writing students post their favorite quotations from a novel we were reading on the class discussion board. Students used these as the basis for writing paragraphs (the meaning of the quote and its personal significance). Via the discussion board students commented on each other's paragraphs. These paragraphs were grouped according to categories and eventually compiled into essays.
