Below is an Excel spreadsheet, wherein there are 3 grades  for the semester:

Instructions for inserting a formula:
The first step is always including an = sign

  • Formulas for grades (typed in cells on row 2)
    • Formula for average of 3 grades:  =(B2+C2+D2)/3
    • Formula for weighted 3 grades: =(0.25*B2)+(0.25*C2)+(0.5*D2)
    • Formula for weighted 3 grades: =(0.25*B2)+(0.25*C2)+(0.5*D2)

     

  • To repeat a formula without retyping it.
    • Click on box with correct formula
    • When hollow Excel symbol looks like + ,drag it  down wherever you want the formula repeated

     

  • To place grades in ascending or descending order
    • Click on appropriate column & then click on A^Z icon

 

  • Bonus Info
    • To add several consecutive numbers
      • Highlight consecutive numbers to be added plus one additional box where total will appear
      • Click on Auto Sum icon (Similar to Greek £)
      • Total will appear
    • To transform information into a chart
      • Highlight numbers that you want charted
      • Click on Chart Wizard  icon  & follow instructions
